Hey there! So, it looks like measles is making a comeback in the U.S., and South Carolina is really feeling the heat. We've seen a bunch of cases popping up all over the state, especially in Columbia and at Clemson University. Right now, South Carolina is dealing with the biggest outbreak in the country!According to the folks at the South Carolina Health Department, there are currently 558 people infected. Just to give you some perspective, just in 2024 the CDC reported only 1-2 cases. This is definitely something to pay attention to if you live in South Carolina, and it shouldn't be ignored by folks in other states either. One of the most recent exposures resulted in 531 people stuck in quarantine. Other exposures have even spread cases to North Carolina and Washington.
How to Stay Safe
Get the MMR vaccine if you haven't already.
Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze to prevent the spread of measles.
If you're not vaccinated, consider staying away from others until the outbreak calms down.
